Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant
This new treatment facility for the City of Pacifica is located in a former quarry adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. The Administrative Building houses 2-story tall grit handling and maintenance areas in addition to the 3-story administrative area, which includes offices, locker rooms, a lunch room and a laboratory.
The building serves as a long retaining wall concealing the processing basins behind. Functional, low maintenance materials appropriate for the marine environment including copper roofing, stainless steel doors, split-face concrete block and concrete, are toned to blend with the surrounding landscape. The entire plant is effectively screened from public view by existing hills, man-made berms, and plantings.
