Taylor Creek Visitors Center
Lake of the Sky Amphitheater

Located at the Taylor Creek Visitors Center on the shores of Lake Tahoe, this amphitheater for the USDA Forest Service provides a natural, welcoming space for visitors to attend informational ‘campfire’ talks, performances and multimedia shows. Two stage buildings – one used for a performance green room, the second for storage – are connected by a truss supporting lighting, a projection screen and sliding doors. The buildings and truss frame the magnificent view beyond. During talks rangers can open the doors to the view of the meadow and mountains beyond or close the doors for movie presentation projections.

Other improvements include a ‘state of the art’ audio visual system that is invisibly integrated into the surroundings as well as a redesign of seating and pathways to create a fully accessible facility.
